Episode 98: In The Year Two-Thousannnnnndddd
July 09, 2007

Show Notes

In 2000 I think all Star Wars fans had a bit of a Star Wars hangover. We felt sick from all the Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC we'd ingested, and we were seeing $0.99 Darth Maul figures on store shelves. Star Wars hoopla from the year before had burned out quickly, and while we were looking forward to Episode II it was many years away and details were few. Still, in that time Star Wars collecting continued with a new figure line, a few new video games, and some new books. This week Marjorie & Arnie look back to Y2K and remember fondly an item released that year.

Also this week, Scott reviews two pieces of Gentle Giant exclusive goodness--the Commander Gree mini-bust and the Yoda/R2 maquette. Both are big bucks after-market, and the Yoda/R2 goes up for San Diego attendee orders this week...are they worth it?

In addition this week, a Hasbro Q&A, voice mails, and details on the San Diego Comic Con Star Wars Action News dinner!

Hasbro Q & A

1) I'm glad to see the shadow trooper for the OTC is continuing with this summer's comic con exclusive. You previously did the shadow stormtrooper which fans love as well. However, some fans call this a blackhole stormtrooper, but there are some differences between a shadow stormtrooper and a blackhole stormtrooper, such as the silver eyes and accents. Is a proper blackhole stormtrooper on the horizon anywhere?

2) In our last Q&A you mentioned possibly doing another round of fan's choice voting from all Star Wars media. If the Tonnonka sisters win the vote will we finally see the cantina patrons in plastic? Is our only hope of seeing them a win on a vote such as this?

3) Thank you for promising us the AT-TP vehicle. It's great to see exciting new vehicle tool ups coming out this year! With respect to the AT-TP could you give us an indication of its size?
